CloneDVD: Managing video files has never been that easy

There are so many handheld multimedia players, that it is somehow difficult to have DVD movies in the appropriate format for the MP4 player, the iPod, the iPhone, or any other device. Thanks to its user-friendly interface and great usability, Clone DVD Mobile runs all the conversion process, without requiring any knowledge about codecs, formats, pixels or compression rates. Simply select the original file and the receiving device (from a complete preloaded list). Then, follow the instructions on every screen. Easier is not possible.

The application also allows viewing the original video file. This way, it is possible to monitor the conversion process.

If you’ve got an iPod, make sure you’re the fastest on the block…

Apple’s iPod devices, and even their iPhones – if you happen to have already got your hands on one of these telephone/multimedia players – aren’t particularly user-friendly when it comes to loading movies onto them. Many videos aren’t compatible with these multimedia players and the conversion tools provided with iTunes are neither the fastest nor the most versatile. The specific version of Mobiola Video Studio for iPod/iPhone speeds up enormously video conversion tasks, even when working with YouTube multimedia content. Whether you drag and drop, browse through the file explorer or enter the URL of the YouTube video directly, the software provides you with a video which is compatible with and adapted for the screen sizes of Nano, Classic or Touch iPods or the iPhone. You can also choose to only copy the files to the hard disk so that you can convert them later.

It’s possible to pick the final quality of the video and even to chop it up into chunks of predefined sizes for when it’s difficult to work with large file sizes. The conversion is done quickly, and you can optionally display a preview window to keep an eye on the process and make sure it’s all going well.

Say goodbye to file-sharing problems

The Internet isn’t just for browsing web pages and sending and receiving email and other messages. Storing files on other computers is the order of the day, although it may not turn out to be easy to access folders on other users’ computers or even on computers connected to the local network at home or in the office. Also, it’s not easy to access servers which are secured using encryption. Most of the utilities built into the operating system only work when connecting to remote computers using insecure protocols such as FTP and Telnet, but more often than not it will be necessary to use secure variants such as SFTP or SSH.

WinSCP is one of the most popular tools for overcoming these obstacles. On the one hand, it provides a graphical interface for connection tasks via SSH and FTP, meaning that there’s no need to wrestle with complicated commands typed into an incomprehensible MS-DOS or Unix terminal window. You can use a terminal, of course, but most commands can also be entered through windows and drop-down menus or even by dragging and dropping files from the remote server to a folder on the local computer.

Among other possible uses is the ability to manage photo galleries on internet servers, or the content and design of a personal blog, or even the unlocking of your iPhone, which requires an SSH connection to be made between a computer and the telephone in order to enter into the system and unlock it.
In short, it’s a whole gamut of handy and effective tools which are essential for taking control of the Internet for web development and for making the most of the resources available on the web.
