Use PDFs to be more eco-friendly
“Green” initiatives aimed at cutting down on the use of natural resources are changing the rulebook on the use of technology. For a start, something which was as normal and practically essential as printing everything out before reading it is now questioned and avoided whenever possible. doPDF is a fundamental tool for continuing with this change in habits, replacing the traditional printer with a virtual one which, instead of printing on paper, prints in the PDF format, which can then be read on an eBook reader or on the screens of desktops or laptops or filed and indexed to be read later. In this way, paper and ink or toner are saved and, ultimately, the office workflow can be re-organised to be entirely digital.
There are still no screens with a quality comparable to that of paper, and the change in habits means sacrificing a bit of the convenience of traditional printing methods, but without a doubt, programs like doPDF are essential in order to adapt to new habits and to be more responsible in terms of the environment. And of course in order to enter into the era of document management, PDF files can be indexed using your system’s search tools so that you can find any word, piece of data or text string without having to hunt through a mountain of documents.
