And finally… the third
It is not until this release of Firefox that we can say it is really the preferred browser among users. No wonder, indeed, as it is the most efficient, fastest, most secure and most scalable available browser. There are almost no limits in its configuration possibilities. Complements and add-ons are definitely the main competitive advantage of this flexible browser.
For instance, a browser like Flock is usually defined as the social browser, due to its built-in tools for communities. With Firefox, adding specific add-ons for managing communities is immediate, and the functionality offered is exactly the same.
What is more, thanks to technologies such as GreaseMonkey, Firefox even supports customized scripts, developed with JavaScript language. There are more than 5,000 different add-ons available for this browser, and growing.
Bookmarks, passwords, RSS feeds, downloads, pop ups, and many other aspects, are perfectly and smoothly integrated on Firefox 3. Its browsing engine is so efficient, that all those additional features do not affect browsing speed.
The browser itself is very easy to use. It’s true, some functions need advanced menus for a more accurate configuration, but usual functions are at hand and easy to set up. Consistent with its approach, Mozilla is more focused on technology, efficiency and optimization than in design and graphical appearance. But the resulting browser (Firefox) is flexible enough, so that users can freely configure the appearance of the interface.
There are other interesting browsers, such as Flock, AvantBrowser or even Internet Explorer. But any of those offers such degree of customization. All the specific characteristics and features of the other browsers can be added to Firefox through add-ons. And the resulting functionality is usually the same.
